Is it excessive to put two family favorites into one recipe? Maybe. Will your family love these Beefy Taco Joes? Definitely! The flavor is so much better than a salty taco seasoning packet, thanks to a combination of condensed tomato soup and salsa (choose your heat level!). The balance of sweet, savory and spicy is perfect for simmering the beef. All you need is 5 ingredients and 20 minutes to make the filling for these sandwiches. We like these Beefy Taco Joes on buns with shredded Cheddar, but you can serve the filling with whatever you have on hand- over rice, wrapped in tortillas, even with tortilla chips for dipping.
cost per recipe: $9.51
Step 1
Season the beef with salt and pepper. Cook the beef in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat until well browned, stirring often to separate meat. Pour off any fat.
Step 2
Stir the soup and salsa in the skillet and cook until hot. Season to taste. Spoon the beef mixture on the buns. Top with the cheese.
Beefy Taco Joes
My kids prefer this recipe to the brand-name sloppy joe mix. For a change of pace, it's really good served on rice. It also makes an excellent topping for nachos!
good one
My picky teenagers LOVED this!
This was very simple, and I did not have to tweak it at all. This is the first dish I've made in a long time that my teenage boys went back for until it was gone and asked me to make it again!
Very easy Sloppy Joe
I wanted a different type of Sloppy Joe recipe and I had all the ingredients on hand, so I choose this recipe. It was very quick and easy, and was well received by my husband. I will make this again.
